On 17 March 2023, Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “the Court”) issued warrants of arrest for two individuals in the context of the situation in Ukraine: Putin and the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights.
Since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, governments, individuals, and national and international organizations have been working hard to make this critical decision happen.
On the national level, the most significant role in returning abducted children from RF has been plaid by “Save Ukraine”.
We closely work with ICC judges, prosecutors, and investigators to document and file war crimes of forced deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia, processing together hundreds of cases and providing a huge number of facts and evidence.
We truly believe that today’s ICC decision is the first step. The next step is to create an International Tribunal Court for War Crimes, which we are working on today with the Ukrainian Parliament and our international partners. We are also developing a mechanism to ensure the prosecution of war criminals Putin and Lvova-Belova.
